SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under general supervision, the FOREMAN primary responsibility is the management and installation of landscape construction and projects. This includes managing Team Members, leading and supporting crews to achieve organizational goals. To ensure all project work is completed to contract expectations including hardscapes, concrete forming and finishing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of five (5) years working in the role of Foreman, managing crews within the landscaping industry
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in installing a variety of hardscape applications
  • Extensive knowledge of plantings and lawn installations
  • Experience in concrete work including forming and finishing
  • Experience with reading project plans and completing layout and shoot grades
  • NYS Driver’s license in good working order

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalent Degree (GED)
  • A criminal background check will be conducted

  • Ability to provide customer service when interacting with various customers throughout the workday

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct activities on the job site, including but not limited to: coordinating work flow, hands on work and operating a variety of machinery
  • Manage personnel effectively and efficiently
  • Communicate production goals with crew members, supervisors and clients
  • Train and promote the development of staff in the best practices of installation and company standards
  • Monitor all tools, equipment and machinery for needed maintenance
  • Track and record all job expenses, including but not exclusively materials and hours worked
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times
  • Manages landscape crew; Communicates regularly with Crew Leader
  • Ensures each crew member is trained appropriately for each designated job assignment
  • Participates in and conducts all job site safety briefings with crew members
  • Ensures that all crew members utilize all required personal protective equipment
  • Understands and instructs crew members on proper job site security procedures
  • Ensures that all installation work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards
  • Ensures that all safety and maintenance procedures are followed
  • Performs administrative functions pertaining to crew management
  • Interacts with customers regularly in order to help ensure job satisfaction
  • Understands financial aspects of each job assignment
  • Leads by example; Possess interpersonal skills in order to lead crews to success, lower turnover and create a positive work environment
  • Participates in all safety training sessions offered, asks questions and improves job safety skills
  • Monitors all tool equipment and machinery for needed maintenance
  • Track and record all job expenses and hours worked accurately
  • Maintain clean and safe job site 
  • Train crew members the development in the nest practices of installation in company standards

WORKING & PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

  • Position must be able to perform the basic operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, hearing and repetitive motions
  • Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to one hundred (100) pounds of force occasionally and / or twenty (20) pounds of force to move objects
  • Must possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and motor vehicles, perform trade tasks, inspect work of others and review accuracy, neatness and thoroughness

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:

Employer will provide work shirts with company logo, a hat with a company logo and safety vest. Only hats which are company logo are allowed to be worn during work hours.

  • The employee is responsible for wearing Khaki Pants
  • The employee is responsible for wearing non-slip black or brown work boots
  • Dangling jewelry is prohibited at the work site and includes all necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
  • Piercings must be taken out during work hours, including all face and mouth piercings.
  • Hair should be kept tied up, clipped or pulled back during work hours
